Pozycja Open Access Separation of saline oily wastewater by membrane distillation(Slovak Society of Chemical Engineering Institute of Chemical and Environmental Engineering Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, 2019-05-20) Gryta, Marek; West Pomeranian University of Technology in SzczecinThe presented work is associated with the investigations on the membrane distillation process for the treatment of saline oily wastewaters, such as bilge water. The polypropylene capillary membranes were applied for process study. During the separation of wastewaters the intensive membrane fouling was observed. The formation of deposits on the membrane surface accelerates the pores wettability. It was confirmed, that the degree of membrane wetting in the MD process influences on the purity of obtained distillate. However, the obtained degree of retention for the inorganic compounds amounted to 98% and more than 99 % for the organic compounds.Pozycja Open Access Solutions concentration by natural membrane evaporation(Slovak Society of Chemical Engineering Institute of Chemical and Environmental Engineering Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, 2022-05-23) Gryta, Marek; Woźniak, Piotr; West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin; West Pomeranian University of Technology in SzczecinThe development of cheap water evaporation methods can facilitate the management of various waste solutions. In this work an idea of solutions concentration by water evaporation from the surface of capillary membranes, whose bundles are loosely distributed inside large chambers was presented. For this purpose, the membrane evaporation was realized by using the capillary module without a housing (module shell). This design allows the process to be carried out with low gas flow (close to natural convection) and for high gas flow velocities (forced convection). In such a system, the solar energy transferred to the air surrounding the installation is used to evaporate the water. During the tests the feed was flowing inside the hydrophobic polypropylene membranes, whereas the water evaporated through the non-wetted membrane pores into the air surrounding the module. The capillary length was 1 m, which allowed to obtain conditions like those in industrial modules. The paper considers how the process parameters and the feed composition affect the efficiency and fouling of membranes.Pozycja Open Access Studies of composition variability of oily wastewaters collected from harbour(Slovak Society of Chemical Engineering Institute of Chemical and Environmental Engineering Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, 2019-05-20) Gryta, Marek; West Pomeranian University of Technology in SzczecinEffluents from the ships containing the petroleum compounds are very dangerous for the marine environment, hence, they are pre-treated on ships and their concentrates are transferred in harbours for further purification. Oily wastewaters are very difficult for treatment; therefore this process is carried out in specialized wastewater treatment plants. The treatment of oily wastewaters is made a more difficult by the fact that the wastewaters supplied are very different in composition. In this work was carried out the evaluation of variability of the composition of wastewaters collected from oily wastewater treatment plant, which was transferred from a harbour. Several parameters characterizing the actual wastewater (oil content, oil droplet size distribution, pH, salt concentration, surface tension, COD/TOC) were measured. The samples for analysis were collected over a period of 2 months.
