Abstract
A survey of plant communities of 8 rich fens found in the newly established nature reserve „Wielkopolska Dolina Rurzycy” has been performed on the basis of the phytosociological research. A present day vegetation cover of these fens is composed of 11 plant communities belonging to three vegatation classes: Scheuchzerio-Caricetea nigrae, Phragmitetea and Molinio-Arrhenatheretea. The spatial relationship between the different mire components is analysed in respect to history of land use and the mire regeneration processes. Concepts of active mire protection is discussed in relation to particular local situation and hydrological conditions.
