    In the field experiment, carried out at the Agricultural Experiment Station Przylep, the F2-F3 progenies of six intervarietal crosses of spring wheat were seeded. Hybrid plants were divided each year into two groups, namely, awned and awnless, and seeded separately. Grain yield and 1000 kernel weight were determined. Protein content of the grain was determined, and baking quality was tested using three methods, namely, the wheat meal fermentation test, sedimentation test, and farinograph method. In general, the awned hybrids proved to have slightly higher protein content and quality than the awnless ones. However, particular hybrid combinations differed greatly in this respect.
