Paper presents study results upon evaluating the influence of anthracene on the
numbers of the three main taxonomic groups of soil microflora. Variable factors in the
experiment was a dose of hydrocarbon, temperature and incubation time. It was found that the
largest group of microorganisms in the studied soil were bacteria, actinomycetes was
considerably less and fungi. Microorganisms showed different sensitivity to the presence of
anthracene, which depended on the dose, and the impact this has changed with time. On the
basis of average values for the whole period of incubation was found that a significant effect on
the number of bacteria was dose 1000 mg · kg–1, for actinomyces, 100 and 1000 mg · kg–1 and
for fungi 10 000 mg · kg–1. Higher temperatures caused a rise in the number of bacteria and the
limited development of the actinomycetes and fungi.
