Place the illegal deposit of waste is an area where, in an forbidden manner are stored
different types of the waste. The obligation to eliminate them is usually the responsibility of
municipalities. However, despite the emergence the formation of wild dumps is still ongoing.
The purpose of this study was to assess the accumulation of heavy metals in surface soil
(0–20 cm) as a result of uncontrolled waste disposal in the Police municipality. After studies, the
soil exposed to uncontrolled dumping of waste (with the exception of object 5) can classified as
uncontaminated soil with natural content of heavy metals or to soils with elevated
concentrations of these metals. Exceeding the limit values for concentrations of zinc and copper
were found only in the surface soil samples taken from object 5, which allows to classify these
soils as a soil medium contaminated, which is associated with the morphological composition of
waste (ash). Moreover, the highest concentrations of heavy metals in soil samples has been
taken in the immediate vicinity of the illegal deposit of waste, but with increasing distance from
these objects studied heavy metal concentration gradually decreased.
