Very low effects are stated now in geeses growth increase, when fattening them in special establishments. Presumably it is the consequence of the feed ration consisting only of oatgrain. The purpose of this experiment was then to find the right ration composition, which when appTed would enable the increase in of present growth rate of fattened geese. The following five different rations have been tried giving various results. Ration one consisting of: oat-grain potatoes mash ground sorghum 450 g 100 g 10 g Ration two consisting of: oat-grain 450 g potatoes mash 100 g Ration three consisting of: oat-grain 250 g ground soy-beans 250 g Ration four consisting of: oat-grain 500 g Ration five consisting of: carrot (1—7 days) — 1000 g oat-grain (1—7 days) — 200 g oat-grain (8—14 days) — 300 g maize (8—14 days) — 200 g oat-grain (15—24 days) — 500 g The obtained results were the following: 1. The biggest weight increase was marked using ration V (1174 g). When employing ration III the lowest weight increase was observed (788 g). 2. A distinct weight increase was stated when employing the ration V (rationed in different qualities and ways) in comparison to ration IV. It was observed in this case a diminution of feed components for each obtained single unity of weight increase. 3. Substituting partly oat-grain with ground sorghum (ration III) potatoes mash (ration II) or potatoes mash with ground soy-beans (ration I) causes explicit reduction of weight in comparison to ration IV (consisting of oat-grain). At the same time was observed an increase of consumed feed components for each obtained single unity of weight. 4. It was stated that the weight increased of geese was higher than that of gander, in comparison to their initial weights. 5. The rate of fodder utilisation by geese was smaller in comparison to gander. 6. The using of different feed rations had no influence on: a) the weight relations between the eviscerated carcass and the cooled one, b) the grade of fat clearing and its melting point.
