    Field experiments were conducted in 1961-1965 at the Agricultural Experiment Station Przylep to study the responses of five winter wheat varieties and of one winter variety of tetraploid rye when grown under three different levels of nitrogen (30, 60, and 90 kg/ha) and three seeding rates (150, 180, and 210 kg/ha). Grain and straw yields, yield components, and grain quality were determined. The highest grain yields were recorded for Tetra-Gorzów rye and Żelazna winter wheat. The 60 kg application of nitrogen per ha appeared to be the most advantageous. The rate of 90 kg per ha in the higher rainfall years causes lodging associated with a marked decrease in grain yield.
