In Poland it is known from a few stands in the margin zone of the Lower Odra Valley. In 2006 a locality of this species was found in the vinicity of Dolna Odra power station near Gryfino (Western Pomerania, Poland). Stipa borysthenica occurs here in the Spergulo vernalis-Corynephoretum community. The increasing of tufts number from 29 in 2006 to 41 in 2010 indicates good condition of Stipa population.
